Woohoo It's a Long Weekend!

Yes, Victoria Day Weekend, here in Canada, and surprise, surprise, the rain is supposed to return on Sunday! I will say we have had glorious weather for a whole week, sunshine and warm temps, I get spoiled to quick.

Well all this sunshine has made the trees blossom, the flowers pop up and definitely makes everyone smile.

 

Remember this set, Sprinkled Expressions from Sale-a-bration 2012- well it was just perfect for this little package made from Beyond the Garden DSP and using the Candy Wrapper Big Shot die. This is a fun die so easy to adjust to make a longer box.  Rhinestones add some bling, and our 2 3/8 " and 1 3/4" Scallop punches and the Bird Builder punch make the flower embellishment super easy.

Just not my style

Vintage that is, whether it is for card making or decorating, I just can't get Vintage.  To me, Beau Chateau DSP  has a definite Vintage feel to it and is probably why after a year, this pack has very little paper gone.  I will say I love the chicken wire pattern and the dots but the other four styles, have just sat and waited for me.  So I challenged myself to use this DSP on this week's Sudsol Sketch

What do you think, vintage?  I used Crumb Cake for the base, ink and ribbon (do love that seam binding and yes, it is in the new catalogue-I am a happy girl) The stamp set, Word Play punched out with the Decorative Label punch.

More Designer Series Paper bits

Little bits of DSP are perfect for the Herringbone technique.  Here I used 1/2" strips of Paisley Petals and matched it up with River Rock and Marina Mist cardstock and Pear Pizzazz. To stick on all these little strips of DSP could be alot of work but using our Big Shot adhesive sheets, it is quick and easy.  Marina Mist Satin ribbon and the sentiment from Sincere Salutations finish off a very easy but fun card.  If you love that stamp set, better get it quick, it retires at the end of the month.

DSP scraps and the Big Shot

Your Big Shot is a perfect way to use up some odd scraps of DSP and make something special.  I mean who in their right mind would say no to a little gift of chocolate?  Not one of my friends!  

I used our Scalloped Envelope die and made little chocolate holding envelopes

Nursery Nest, Blushing Bride ribbon, Marina Mist ink & cardstock, retired stamp set

Big Top Birthday DSP, Tempting Turquoise cardstock & ink, Real Red satin ribbon, Under the Stars stamp set

Just Add Cake DSP, Early Expresso cardstock & satin ribbon, Wild Wasabi ink, Word Play stamp set

Quick and super easy to make, these are sure to put a smile on someones face.  Don't forget, these beautiful DSPs will not be around much longer, so order soon.

Tote-ally Tess

is another retiring set, and since I have a few birthday cards to make this month, it is a perfect set.

What about this colour combination, I love my Colour Coach (it's like having an Art Teacher in the room with you).  The combo is Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride and Early Expresso.   I stamped Tess onto Whisper White and coloured her hair, skin and shoes with my watercolour crayons and then stamped her again onto some Nursery Nest DSP for her pants and shirt.  Yes, I will admit, those pants, just might be like I pair I had in the 70's!!!  The cupcake is from Short & Sweet, another retiring set, that will not make it to the "yes, I am selling them this year" retired stamps.  Love that sentiment set but I will admit that there are a couple in the new catalogue that will help easy the withdrawal from it!

Has this week flown by

for you too?  Hard to believe it is Friday but I am glad too.  Monday, my third favorite guy (after my hubby & son) MR UPS will be bringing me a box of goodies.  And in the box of goodies, my copy of the new SU catalogue!  Don't worry, your copy is on its way soon!  I have seen the catalogue and oh my, you are going to love it.  It is so crisp looking, and it is filled with fabulous stuff.  Things like faceted clear buttons, think of the old glass doorknobs-I'll be getting some of those and more framelits, embossing folders, oh and stamps too-some fresh new designs.

So while I am waiting for Mr. Brown, I am cleaning out my cupboard of my retiring stamps and giving them one last inking.  Today's stamp set, Flight of the Butterfly.  

Isn't this a fun card.  Kind of like a pinwheel made with Berry Blossom DSP and Early Expresso cardstock-super quick and easy.  The Calypso Coral Butterfly is from the Flight of the Butterfly set.

Have you ever made

a card and really liked it so decided to make another but change up the colours?  I loved my Mother's Day card that I made and posted on Tuesday, so how about a birthday card, same layout, same stamp sets but this time using Peach Parfait, Tempting Turquoise and Just add Cake DSP.

Well, that card will wake you up, so bright and cheery!  Again I embossed the stamp, Elizabeth, but this time with Tempting Turquoise embossing powder and the sentiment is embossed as well using Tangerine Tango embossing powder.  A few Basic Rhinestones add some bling, just incase it was not flashy enough!

Customizing your packaging

is super easy with our Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

 Any size package can be made by simply following the same basic instruction and using our Simply Scored tool.   Let's say we want to package something 1 x 1 1/4 x 3 First I like to add 1/4" to my width measurements, we don't want to have to force our item in the package, a little wiggle room is good. So using our sample sizes let's add the width measurements (remembering we need two of each for a four sided box)

              1 1/4 x 1 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 1 1/2 = 5 3/4 add 1/2"  to be able to attach the sides together

Now the height measurements.  Add the smaller width to the height and then add how much you want to go over the item

              3 + 1 1/4 + 1 1/2(that's how much I want to go over the item) = 5 3/4

Now cut your paper 6 x 5 3/4.  Score the 6" side at each of the measurement you added together so 

1 1/4, 2 3/4, 4, 5 1/2 and 5 3/4.  Then score the bottom 1 1/4 " add cut the tabs so your paper will look like this.

Add some DSP or stamp to add interest to the panels, sticky strip down the side and voila

You have a fun little package to perfectly hide your gift.

Again, I have used the little monster guy from Spooky Bingo Bits stamping him in Tangerine Tango and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes-one of the best stamp sets you can get for covering every occasion.  I used our Well Worn DSP-perfect for guy cards and gifts with River Rock cardstock for the box itself and Not Quite Navy taffeta ribbon secures the top.
